Refund Policy.

Money-back guarantees by service. No fine print, no fight.

01The principle

If a NineHost service doesn't work for you, we'd rather have you happy somewhere else than stuck with us. This policy spells out exactly which services qualify for a refund and within which timeframes. It is a binding annex to our Terms of Service.

02Web & WordPress hosting

30-day money-back guarantee. All shared web-hosting and managed-WordPress plans qualify for a full refund of the first invoice if requested within 30 calendar days of the initial payment.

After the 30-day window, cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing cycle and no refund is due for the unused portion of a monthly cycle.

If you paid annually, you may cancel mid-term and receive a pro-rated refund for the remaining full months, less a 10% administrative fee, provided the cancellation is not the result of an AUP breach.

03Cloud VPS

7-day money-back guarantee. All Cloud VPS plans (VPS-M, VPS-L, VPS-XL) qualify for a full refund within 7 calendar days of the first paid invoice if total CPU + bandwidth usage during that period is consistent with normal evaluation use (we reserve the right to refuse refunds where usage exceeds reasonable evaluation thresholds, e.g. sustained 100% CPU or above 1 TB egress).

After 7 days, VPS plans are billed monthly in advance and non-refundable for the current period. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current cycle.

04Dedicated servers (Bare Metal)

Dedicated servers are provisioned and reserved to your account on a per-machine basis, and as such are not eligible for a money-back guarantee. We will, however, refund the first month's fees pro-rata if a hardware fault prevents the server from being usable for more than 48 cumulative hours within the first 14 days following delivery, provided you report the fault in writing.

Custom-built dedicated configurations (non-stock CPUs, GPU servers, custom RAID layouts) are non-cancellable and non-refundable once provisioning has started.

05Domain registrations

Domain registrations are processed by accredited registries and registrars (Verisign, Public Interest Registry, GoDaddy Registry, etc.) immediately upon payment. As such, domain registrations and renewals are non-refundable once submitted to the relevant registry.

If a registration fails on the registry side (e.g. invalid TLD requirements, contact verification failure not curable by you), we will refund the full domain fee. Transfer fees that fail to complete due to a registry-side issue are similarly refunded.

06SSL certificates

Domain-Validated (DV) and Wildcard SSL: refundable in full within 14 calendar days of issue if the certificate has not been used in production. Issued and revoked certificates outside this window are non-refundable.

Organisation-Validated (OV) and Extended-Validation (EV) SSL: non-refundable once the validation process has begun (i.e. once we have submitted your business documents to the certificate authority), since the CA processes these on a per-application basis.

07Add-ons & extras

Recurring add-ons (Priority Support, Premium SSL, Dedicated IP, Off-site Backup Pro, Uptime Monitoring) follow the underlying service's refund window. One-off services (paid migration tiers, custom DNS work, account-recovery services) are non-refundable once work has commenced.

08How to request a refund

Email [email protected] from the email address registered on your NineHost account, including:

  • Your client ID and the service you are requesting a refund for.
  • The invoice number on the original payment.
  • A brief reason — we use this only to improve, not to gatekeep eligible refunds.

You can also open a refund ticket from the client area under Billing → Invoices → Request refund.

09Refund method & timing

Refunds are issued to the original payment method. Card refunds appear within 5–10 business days depending on your card issuer. SEPA / bank-transfer refunds clear within 2–5 business days.

If you paid by a method that cannot accept refunds (e.g. a closed card), we will issue an equivalent credit to your NineHost account balance, redeemable against any future invoice.

10What's not refundable

  • Accounts terminated for breach of our Acceptable Use Policy (e.g. hosting illegal content, spam, malware distribution, fraud).
  • Domain registrations, renewals and transfers that have been submitted to the registry.
  • Issued OV / EV SSL certificates.
  • Custom dedicated-server builds once provisioning has started.
  • Add-ons or one-off work already completed.
  • Refund requests submitted after the applicable window has passed.
